Soil survey references
Clay percentages, linear extensibility values and taxonomic classifications reference the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service soil survey for Nueces County, Texas (survey area TX355), obtained through Soil Data Access, with East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana (LA033) used for comparison. Soil surveys map areas at a published scale and describe typical components; they do not establish conditions beneath any individual parcel.
Climate figures
Annual precipitation, cooling degree days and monthly rainfall reference the NOAA/NCEI 1991–2020 normals for station USW00012924, Corpus Christi International Airport. Post-tensioned slabs

Assessing a damaged or severed tendon is engineering work and outside what a repair contractor provides.

Moisture management
Guidance on maintaining soil moisture describes a widely used regional practice and the reasoning behind it. Results vary with soil, drainage, vegetation and construction, over-watering next to a foundation causes its own problems, and municipal water restrictions apply and change.
Cost figures
Ranges reference regional contractor pricing and are illustrative rather than quotations. Piling costs depend on depth to refusal, which is a property of the individual site and is not known before installation begins.
